Drummond Group’s ONC-ACB certification program certifies that EHRs and modules meet the meaningful use criteria for either eligible provider or hospital technology. In turn, healthcare providers using the EHR systems and modules of certified vendors are qualified to receive federal stimulus monies upon demonstrating meaningful use of the technology – a key component of the federal government’s push to improve clinical care delivery through the adoption and effective use of EHRs by U.S. healthcare providers.

Sophrona MU2 Portal Technology Version 5.0 and Version R10.0 are 2014 Edition compliant and have been certified by an ONC-ACB in accordance with the applicable certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. These certifications do not represent an endorsement by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Capabilities and Description

Sophrona certified Health I.T. Modules provide patients the ability to view online, download and transmit their health information, including medications, allergies and problem list, and to view their clinical summaries online. In addition, they allow health care providers and patients to send and receive HIPAA secure messages, and health care providers to send educational materials to patients based on medical information recorded in the patient’s electronic medical record.

Costs and Fees

Sophrona certified Health I.T. Modules are subject to the contractual terms specified in the portal services agreement, including ongoing monthly license fees, and may require an initial implementation fee depending upon the monthly license fee option chosen by the user. Standard contracts may require a commitment of up to 3 years depending upon the pricing option chosen.  License fee adjustments are made for part-time users, with each user being counted as at least .25 user.  No separate contract is required with Sophrona’s partner, DataMotion Direct.

Limitations

There are no technical limitations nor policies that limit the number of licenses available to a practice.  The functionality of these modules requires use of an ONC-ABC certified EMR, which must be purchased separately from a third-party Sophrona-qualified EMR provider.
